OpenAI wants ChatGPT making your slides

OpenAI quietly acquired NextSlide earlier this year, and its team is now working on ChatGPT.

NextSlide built software that could turn prompts, notes, documents and research into polished, editable presentations. Financial terms were not disclosed, and founder Ahmed Beshry says the deal happened months before its August announcement.

This is a small acquisition with a pretty clear product signal. Presentations remain one of those work tasks where AI can generate the words quickly, but people still spend an hour moving boxes, fixing layouts and making the final deck usable.

NextSlide was already working on that problem.

I think OpenAI wants ChatGPT to handle more of the finished work people currently take into PowerPoint and similar tools. Bringing the team inside could make presentations a native part of that workflow rather than another export step.

The interesting question is how much editing happens inside ChatGPT.

Google Maps wants to finish the errand

Google Maps can now fill your food cart.

Ask Maps is adding food ordering, hotel search with live availability, event tickets and personalized answers using information from Gmail and Google Calendar. The agentic features are rolling out in the U.S., while Personal Intelligence remains off by default.

This makes Maps more useful at the moment when a search turns into an action. Instead of finding a restaurant and opening another app, Ask Maps can add your order to a cart before sending you to Square, Toast or Uber Eats for payment.

That handoff matters.

Google already knows where you are going, what businesses are nearby and, with permission, what your calendar and inbox say about your plans. Connecting those pieces could make Maps unusually good at handling everyday decisions.

I think the real test comes when you're standing outside, phone in hand, and need something done quickly.

How often will people trust Maps to choose?

Armenia is making a big compute bet

Firebird plans to deploy more than 70,000 NVIDIA Blackwell and Rubin GPUs in Armenia by the end of 2027.

The scale is significant. The company is targeting 300 megawatts of AI infrastructure there, with NVIDIA planning to invest and CoreWeave already on board.

What stands out is the location. Most discussion about AI infrastructure centers on the U.S., China and a handful of major European markets, while Firebird is putting serious capacity into Armenia and planning expansion across other less established markets.

The physical build is substantial, from chilled-water cooling systems to racks of power equipment, and the first Armenia facility came online in just over six months.

I think the bigger test is demand. Perplexity is already working with Firebird, but filling tens of thousands of GPUs will require a much broader customer base.

If Firebird can do that, Armenia could become a meaningful place to run AI workloads.
