Meta takes the camera out of smart glasses
Plus: What AI misses about mental health
Hello, Prohuman
Today, we will talk about these stories:
Meta’s new AI glasses have no camera
AI therapy has a validation problem
Lovable crosses $600M in annualized revenue
Here’s Why Experts Say to Ditch Your Old Cutting Boards

Before you prep another meal, here’s what you need to know:
Plastic boards shed microplastic particles into your food with every cut.
Wooden boards trap moisture and food residue, the perfect breeding ground for hidden bacteria and toxic mold that transfers to your food.
Meta is testing whether AI glasses need a camera

Meta took the camera out.
Its new $349 Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses handle calls, music, translation, and conversations with Muse while looking slimmer than Meta’s camera-equipped models.
That choice matters because cameras have become one of the biggest social problems with smart glasses. People can see a pair of glasses across a table, but they cannot always tell whether the person wearing them is recording.
I think Meta has landed on a more practical product here. At 43 grams with up to 12 hours of battery life, these glasses ask people to change fewer everyday habits while still giving Meta a place for its AI assistant.
They also put Meta closer to products like AirPods, where audio already feels normal in public.
The question is whether people actually want their AI assistant sitting on their face all day.
AI can give good advice and still miss the person

AI is very good at sounding supportive.
Georgia Tech professor Munmun De Choudhury has spent 15 years studying digital mental health, and her research found that large language models often produced responses that were more readable and structured than those written by people.
The weakness showed up elsewhere. Human responses carried lived experience, while AI often treated distress as something that needed a solution.
I think the more important warning is constant validation. A chatbot is always available on the glowing screen and rarely brings the disagreement and discomfort that real relationships sometimes require.
Her research also found meaningful differences across English, Spanish, Chinese, and Hindi, including advice that failed to fit users’ cultural circumstances.
That suggests a useful role for AI: helping someone prepare for a difficult conversation or providing support when another person is unavailable.
But what happens when the easier conversation becomes the one people choose most often?
Lovable wants to own what happens after the prompt

Lovable is getting very big, very fast.
The AI app builder has crossed $600 million in annualized revenue, up from roughly $500 million in June, while people at two-thirds of Fortune 500 companies are now using the platform.
The more interesting number is nearly 1 billion monthly views across apps built with Lovable. Those are real products loading on phones and laptop screens, long after someone finished typing the original prompt.
That makes hosting, deployment, and scaling increasingly important to Lovable’s business. I think that is where its position gets more interesting because users have more reasons to stay once their apps are running there.
Investors clearly see something substantial too. Lovable raised $700 million across two rounds in eight months, most recently at a $13.3 billion valuation.
The open question is how much of that usage turns into durable businesses.
