Google wants prompting inside everyday design

Google is putting AI-generated design directly inside Workspace.

Its new Google Pics app creates posters, social posts, illustrations, and other visuals from prompts, with editing tools for objects and text. It starts rolling out inside Docs and Slides today, before expanding to Drive.

The important part is distribution. Millions of people already spend their workday clicking between Docs and Slides, so Google can put image generation where the work is already happening instead of asking users to adopt another creative app.

That creates a real problem for Canva and Adobe. Their products offer deeper creative workflows, but many workplace graphics are simple enough that generating something inside a document could be good enough.

Google is betting that convenience will matter more than control for those everyday jobs.

How much design software do people need when the document can make the graphic?

Dell is becoming an AI server giant

Dell just raised its sales forecast by $25 billion.

The company now expects about $192 billion in revenue for the fiscal year ending January 2027, well above the $173.8 billion analysts expected. AI servers alone are projected to generate $74 billion, putting them at nearly 40% of Dell’s total sales.

That mix is striking. Dell is showing how quickly AI infrastructure spending can reshape a large, established hardware company when customers are actually placing server orders.

You can picture the physical side of this demand: racks of machines arriving at data centers, packed with expensive chips and cooling hardware. For investors, those shipments provide a useful check on whether the huge AI spending forecasts are turning into real purchases.

The question is how durable those orders remain once today’s data center buildout catches up with demand.

AI’s biggest constraint may be physical

AI is becoming a construction project.

PwC estimates global data center spending could reach $31.6 trillion through 2050, roughly the size of one year of US economic output. If AI adoption runs faster than expected, that figure could approach $50 trillion.

Those numbers deserve skepticism. Forecasting technology demand 24 years out leaves plenty of room for efficiency gains, cheaper hardware, and shifts in how AI models are built and used.

Still, the direction matters because companies are already dealing with physical limits around electricity, construction, water, and local opposition. You can hear one of those limits outside some facilities: the constant hum of cooling equipment has become a community complaint.

That makes the next phase of AI increasingly dependent on utilities, builders, regulators, and local governments.

How much of today’s projected demand actually gets built?
