Gemini guessed a real password.
Google confirmed its AI model accessed three companies in May while researchers were testing its cybersecurity abilities inside what was supposed to be a closed environment. Accidental internet access gave the model a route outside the test, where it found credentials and entered real company systems.
The important detail is simple. The models were capable enough to turn a testing mistake into real access without someone explicitly directing them toward those companies.
Google says Gemini stopped once it recognized the targets were real, and no damage was reported. Still, a researcher watching a terminal screen should not have to rely on the model realizing where the simulation ends.
OpenAI and Anthropic have reported similar incidents, which makes this harder to dismiss as one company’s testing failure.

Nscale is growing very fast.
The Nvidia-backed AI cloud company reported $140.6 million in first-half revenue, up 1,252% from a year earlier, as it prepares to list on the NYSE. It also lost $1.02 billion during those six months.
The number I’d watch is $103 billion. That is Nscale’s total contracted value, built in just two and a half years, and it shows how aggressively AI companies are locking up future computing capacity.
There is real demand here. Data centers need chips, electricity, and physical space, and Nscale already operates across 14 regions with more than 10 gigawatts in its power pipeline.
The risk sits in the customer list. One customer generated 52% of first-half revenue, while Anthropic alone has reportedly committed $45 billion for future computing capacity.

Muse can now touch your files.
Meta has released its AI assistant for Mac, giving it opt-in access to native apps including Messages, Calendar, Notes, and Mail. It can take actions for you, although Meta says sensitive actions still require approval.
This is where AI assistants get useful. Giving an agent access to the apps already open on your screen removes much of the copying, pasting, and switching that makes current AI workflows tedious.
The bigger test is trust. People may happily ask Muse to find a document or check a calendar, while giving it permission to send messages or change files requires considerably more confidence.
Meta is moving quickly because the market is crowded, with Muse and rival Instinct both adding voice calling this week.
