STAN just raised $8.5M to gamify online communities

STAN, a social gaming startup from India, just landed $8.5 million with backing from Google, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix. Its goal? Reinvent Discord for gamers who want rewards, not just chat.

  • STAN users earn in-app currency (“Gems”) by winning games, which can be redeemed for Amazon and Flipkart vouchers.

  • Unlike Discord, players pay creators with social currency to unlock “gaming experiences” in game-specific Clubs.
