Alibaba’s New AI Is a Monster And Here’s How It Stacks Up
The story in simple terms:
Alibaba just unleashed Qwen2.5-Max, a 20-trillion-token AI trained to compete with GPT-4o, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, and DeepSeek V3. And the numbers? They’re massive.
20 trillion tokens - That’s 15 trillion words, or the equivalent of 168 million copies of Orwell’s 1984.
Beats DeepSeek V3 in head-to-head tests - Scored 89.4 in preference ranking (vs. DeepSeek’s 85.5).
Crushes math benchmarks - 94.5% on GSM8K, towering over DeepSeek V3 (89.3%).
Supercharged Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) system - Activates only the necessary "brains," making it faster and more efficient than traditional models.
Available now via Qwen Chat & Alibaba Cloud API - No complicated setup needed.
Here’s what we think: This thing is a powerhouse, but it’s not perfect. It still trails Claude 3.5 Sonnet in some areas. Will Qwen 3 take the crown?
What do you think—future AI king or just another contender?
The story in simple terms:
Turns out, U.S. teens aren’t buying what Big Tech is selling. A new Common Sense Media report shows that a majority of teens have lost trust in companies like Google, Apple, Meta, TikTok, and Microsoft. And when it comes to AI? Even worse.
Here’s what the numbers say:
64% don’t trust tech companies to care about their mental health.
62% think profits come before safety.
53% believe Big Tech makes shady design choices (hello, dark patterns).
52% don’t trust them with personal data.
47% think these companies won’t handle AI responsibly.
And it’s not just AI policy 41% have been fooled by fake images, 35% by fake content, and 28% weren’t sure if they were talking to a bot or a human.
Here’s what we think: Big Tech has spent years burning trust, and teens aren’t forgetting it. AI was supposed to help, but so far, it’s just adding to the mess.
What do you think, can trust be rebuilt, or is it too late?
